ExId

Extreme-right online spaces have multiplied and diversified so rapidly in recent years that academics and practitioners have struggled to keep track. By studying the far-right online “ecosystem”, the ExId project sheds light on its diverse components, structure, and underlying mechanisms of development.

Using computational methods and in-depth qualitative analysis, this project will examine the far-right online landscape in Europe and North America, exploring phenomena such as extremist influencers, real-world events' impact on digital content and evolution, or radical communities’ respective size and reach.

The ExID team has identified thousands of online spaces (websites, social media channels, forums, etc.), collected and studied their content to show the identities and ideologies they promote, and analyzed associated data to reveal structural patterns of interaction.
