THREATPIE

As the information environment in many democracies changes, there is increasing worry that citizens are uninformed and misinformed. The THREATPIE project explores how changes to political information environments directly impact democracy through a series of comparative studies in various European countries and the US.

Through their project, team members are investigating the concept of a 'political information environment' that includes both the supply (quantity and quality of news) and demand (the amount and type of news) of political news and information.

The project consists of six working packages that seek answers to questions such as: Which concerns, challenges, threats, or opportunities related to the political information environment are relevant to citizens? What are the possible causes, consequences, and solutions to the challenges we are facing in today’s political information environments?
